Life is busy, so blogging the way I want to blog is put on hold.
Our AC has been on the fritz. Not a good thing when you live in the desert and the daily temperature is around 110. For a few weeks, it hasn't been putting out cold air at night. Why only at night, one could only guess. Each night, the duration of its outage increased. The first set of technicians couldn't pin down the problem. Finally, we got a seasoned person who figured it out. Of course the part had to be ordered, and once it finally arrived at the company we could schedule the repair.
The day before the repair was to take place, Ian got to go over to Grandma and Grandpa's house, while Laurel and I enjoyed time together. While Laurel took a little siesta, I noticed the temperature was rising. Sure enough, no AC. By the time she woke up, the thermostat was reading 86. At that rate, I knew it would reach above 95 by the time Paul got home.
Laurel and I headed to a blessedly cold hotel room. After work, Paul packed up a few things for all of us and met us there. Ian got to have a little slumber party with the grandparents.
Our AC unit has been slowly falling apart ever since we moved in four years ago. It was time to bite the bullet and get a new one. OUCH!!!!
But, hurray, here we are in a nice, cool house. A nice, cool house that should stay that way relatively problem free for about 10 years.
Other things keeping us busy:
We headed up to Flagstaff for their annual Celtic Festival. It rained, it poured, and WE LOVED IT!!!
I'm excitedly co-hosting a baby shower for a dear friend I've known since elementary school. Proud to say I've known her about 28 years. This is baby #5 for her, YIKES! This week my goal is to clean the house so guests won't stick to the floors, walls, chairs, etc.
Have a great week everyone. Stay cool.

We had a little heat wave a few weeks ago, so my love and respect for all things air conditioned grew to a new level.
I can't imagine anything over 80 without it. I know, I am a wimp. I would last 8 minutes in the desert.
Glad you are cool again!
Carrie
Our temps are between 80 and 90 with a ton of humidity. I'd be dying without the air. Can't imagine what it's like with your temps. Glad the new one is in and you're all nice and cool!!
I can't imagine having no air! I'm glad you got it fixed though and hopefully this unit will work for a long long time!
There is a mindset among many of my friends and neighbours that AC is grossly overused. In fact, I share that mindset, which is why I've never lived in a home with AC. (My daughter gave me a window unit last summer, my first ever. We've used it two nights this year.) Generally speaking, for the few weeks of hot summer heat we get, we can deal.
However, only last week I reminded a friend that when you live where it's very hot for long stretches, air conditioning has got to be every bit as essential as our furnaces are in the winter - and no one gives them a second's thought!
I can't imagine living in a desert without it. Ugh is right!
Hope the AC gets fixed soon...
And thank goodness for the adventure of a cool hotel...
and #5, wow! a uterus of steel your friend has...
Have a wonderful shower!!!!!
Enjoy the heat so that you can appreciate the cool all the more, I say (at least that's what I tend to try to do). Have a great day!
Glad your back in a nice cool home..I had to buy a bigger bader (is this a word???) air conditioner this year...the initial payment hurts like hell but it is so worth it!! Glad your back to normal! In case you couldn't tell I'm a little behind in reading blogs...trying to catch up now!
Whew! It is also impossible to be without air here..impossible!!!! I'm glad you are cool again....not that you ever weren't "cool"..haha!
Enjoy the baby shower!
Oh, A/C, how we love thee.... I know how you feel because we had to have our entire unit replaced one sweltering Memorial Day weekend. Spendy!
How nice of you to have a shower for your friend for baby #5. Every baby deserves a little welcome party, not just the first one. And how great to stay friends all this time!
